Project Restore Hosts Walk for Water
Edwardsville-based nonprofit Project Restore is hosting the annual Walk for Water this Saturday, May 16. Project Restore believes that living should be MORE than surviving.
The event represents the walk that many impoverished peoples make to the nearest water source. The 4 mile walk begins Saturday at Edwardsville Township Park (Airplane park) at 10am.
Millions have lost their lives to the HIV/AIDS virus – the world’s most devastating pandemic in the history of mankind. Approximately 5000 children die every single day around the world simply because they don’t have access to clean water. Countless others live quiet lives of desperation as they struggle under the weight of extreme poverty or hunger.
Adults will carry 10 liters of water and children will carry 4 liters of water for the walk. Please bring your own containers and method of carrying, that’s three-empty gallon jugs (adult) and two-empty gallon jugs (child).
On Saturday, we will carry the water so they don’t have to.

Volunteer in the Name of Rock 'N' Roll
Volunteer opportunity for all of you retired groupies. Grateful Dead is no longer on tour and you can only get face time with Ozzy by watching reality TV. But the Mississippi River Festival never dies! SIUE needs help sprucing up the rock and roll mecca for the upcoming MRF Commemorative Picnic.
Sunday, May 17th
10am-2pm
Volunteers meet in the former MRF main parking lot just southwest of the intersection of North University Drive and New Poag Road. Bring bug spray, tools, long sleeve shirts, gloves and safety goggles. All volunteers will need to sign a waiver of indemnification for the university.
If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail Steve Jankowski at sjankow@siue.edu. Also check out the Alumni event page OR the MRF facebook event.

May Day, May Day! SIUE Textbooks DUE
Get them returned or pay the price, literally. Although that thick HR book you never even cracked seems like it could be useful someday (leveling a table, etc.) — it’s not worth it….trust me.
